ABOUT US

Jocelyn and Alan Arnold arrived in Whitianga on the Coromandel Peninsula of New Zealand’s North Island in 2001 after first visiting New Zealand twenty-four years earlier. They have been coming back for holidays and photo opportunities since that time and have explored most of the country and its beautiful scenery. They eventually decided the Coromandel was an area that offered a bit of “ all New Zealand put together” - and is a bit warmer than areas they also liked in the south.

Both Alan and Jocelyn are keen photographers and when Alan retired from his senior technical management role in Sydney they packed up and headed straight for the Coromandel Peninsula. Jocelyn has won prizes for her photography in the UK as well as in Australia, in particular, Tasmanian scenery and Australian wild life. In 1999 she won the major prize offered by National Geographic/Foxtel for wild life photographs, that saw them, both taking an all-expenses-paid trip to Alaska.

Having built up a good portfolio of New Zealand and Coromandel photographs showing the stunning scenery, both their family and friends said they should do something with them and not just store them in albums or give them away. In 2004 they identified an opportunity to produce a pictorial calendar of the Coromandel after visitors and family complained they could not find one anywhere except for the odd picture in some general New Zealand calendars.

In December 2004 Clovelly Enterprises Limited was born, to publish and market the calendar as an annual event. The 2008 version covering 15 months is available from us and from many outlets on the Coromandel. The main photographs used in the calendar will be available to be purchased, mounted and ready for framing directly from Clovelly Enterprises Limited.

The name “Clovelly” was taken from the small, very attractive North Devonshire fishing village in the UK close to where both Jocelyn and Alan originated.
